1889. 🇸🇬🇲🇹 Singapore Commemorates Doctors, Malta Remembers Prince Phillip.

🇸🇬 Singapore Post will issue a set of 6 stamps on 30 June 2021 to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of the College of Family Practitioners of Singapore. Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic various postal administrations have commemorated useful people for a change - you know, people who save lives for instance, such as doctors and nurses, though of course Royal Mail prefers to stick with commemorating aged popular music stars who have made millions in the course of their careers. Perhaps Royal Mail’s planned COVID-19 Heroes set will start to put things right. But it would be excellent if Royal Mail featured more doctors and emergency service workers on its stamps rather than performers of loud music. This Singapore set, regardless, rating:- ****.

🇲🇹 MaltaPost will issue a set of 3 stamps on 10 June 2021 in memory of, and to commemorate the Birth centenary of, Prince Phillip The Duke of Edinburgh, the late husband of Queen Elizabeth II. After their marriage in 1947, the then Princess Elizabeth and her husband passed some time in Malta living at the Villa Guardamangia because of the Duke’s work in the Royal Navy. The stamps, designed by MaltaPost plc, depict photographs of the royal couple in Malta and were lithographed by Printex and are perforated 14.

The Villa Guardamangia was recently acquired by Heritage Malta and is to be restored to its state when the royal couple lived there. Given the Duke of Edinburgh’s links with the Malta, it is pleasing and appropriate for MaltaPost to release a stamp issue which commemorates the Duke. Rating:- ***.

🇵🇰 Pakistan Post issued a single stamp on 5 June 2021 to commemorate World Environment Day. I have no other details at present. Rating:- ***.
