๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ฌ Post PNG (postal service of Papua New Guinea) -

The Post PNG internet site lists 7 new issues said to have been released during 2023 and 14 new issues  planned for release during 2014. Although details of the issues are given no illustrations of the various stamps, miniature sheets and sheetlets are published. In previous years the Post PNG internet site has listed stamps which subsequent to their appearance on the site were never actually issued or if they were then they often appeared at a much later date. There is little reason to believe therefore that all the featured 2023 and 2024 issues were released on the stated dates of issue or have so far been issued at all. One issue featured on the 2023 page but probably, according to a Facebook posting, issued in January 2024, was featured in Blog 2522.

The Pacific area expert and stamp dealer Steven Zirinsky has recently put on sale on his shop internet site some covers bearing one stamp from some of the other sets mentioned but not illustrated, on the Post PNG  internet site. I therefore now mention the sets and stated date of issue (according to the Post PNG site) as these issues have clearly been released. Mr Zirinsky’s covers are all dated 17 May 2024 though there is no mention of that being the date of issue.

Stated date of issues - 28 July 2023 - Canoe splashboards - 4 stamps (1.60, 3.00, 5.00 and 6.90), 1 sheetlet costing 20.00 and 1 miniature sheet costing 20.00). Designed by Banian Masiboda and lithographed.

๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ฌ PNG Post (postal service of Papua New Guinea) -

2 October 2023 - Nadzab Tamadachi International Airport - 4 stamps, 1 sheetlet containing 4 stamps and 2 miniature sheets, one containing 2 stamps and the other a single stamp. Designed by Yang Hu’eng Yansom and lithographed. Gene (DJCMH) of  Colnect has kindly supplied the above illustration of a used example of one of these values which he was contacted about by a Colnect user. Thanks to Gene and the Colnect user for the illustration which confirms that at least one of these stamps has been put on sale.

Thanks to this information I have been able to track down a posting on the Facebook page of JICA Papua New Guinea (JICA stands for Japan International Co-operation Agency) which provides illustrations of all the items included in the issue. The accompanying text describes 29 January 2024 as the date of launching of this issue which means that the date given on the PNG Post internet site may be incorrect and that this is a 2024 rather than a 2023 new issue. This may be an issue sponsored by the Japanese government via JICA and donated to PNG Post. The total face value is currently equal to £11.51p.

๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿ‡น Stamperija (Private company located in Lithuania selling and producing philatelic products stated to be under contract with certain African postal authorities or governments).

2024 - “The first Mickey Mouse cartoon Steamboat Willie enters public domain” (in other words, Stamperija seizes the first moment possible to produce and sell items depicting Disney characters without having to pay a licence fee). While not usually publicising the range of exploitative products emanating from the notorious Stamperija, these items are noted here to illustrate just how those who run Stamperija have an eye to the main chance and will exploit every single opportunity that arises to screw money out of hapless stamp collectors. As usual, caveat emptor.  Rating:- 0.

Apart from the names of the two Commonwealth countries illustrated below, products on the same subject have been put on the market with the names of Djibouti, Liberia, Central African Republic, Guinea Bissau and Guinea printed on them. All issued in perforated and imperforate versions.
