๐ฌ๐ง In previous editions of CSO I have pointed out stamps depicting British prime ministers (Blogs 229, 451 and the edition of 29 May 2012) and now another British leader, Theresa May, can be added to the list of British prime ministers depicted on Commonwealth stamps. The 5 stamp miniature sheet inscribed ‘The Gambia‘ depicted above features the second British woman prime minister whose short hold on power was characterised by an inability to reach an agreement with the European Union that was acceptable to the Westminster Parliament over The United Kingdom’s departure from membership of the EU. Mrs May is depicted in the upper margins of the miniature sheet. She has been depicted once before on a highly dubious product from Stamperija which is inscribed ‘Central African Republic’ and commemorates the British exit from the European Union (Blog 820).
