9 March 2023 - Centenary of the Flying Scotsman train engine - 8 stamps and 1 miniature sheet containing 4 different stamps and I Prestige booklet containing 4 panes including one containing Machin Head definitives (3 x 20p and £2) and sold for £20.05p. Designed by Steers McGiven Eves and lithographed by Cartor and perforated 14. Rating:- ****.

    1. Hello petemk, regrettably I can not quote the dimensions to you though I would have expected them to be the same as previous stamps in the same formats.

  3. The Flying Scotsman is what I liked about British stamps from the 1970s to 1990s. Well designed and celebrating Britishness. (Yes I know they are just photos with text, but the reason for issue is clear, the designs are uncluttered, and the layout is done well).

    I also note the choice of Gill Sans as the font for stamps and prestige booklet is perfect as it near as old as the Flying Scotsman. (although this is potentially coincidental).

  4. It's such a shame that the Flying Scotsman "poster" designs won't be seen on regular mail; they are far more impactful than the designs based on photographs.
