Philatelic entities which have not issued stamps during 2022 (1)

A whole month of 2022 has already passed and it’s time to look at which Commonwealth philatelic entities are not yet known to have issued or are about to issue any stamps so far in this new year. This is always a fun exercise for those slightly obsessional (but not that obsessional) individuals among us who like compiling lists. In this edition there are two lists - the first which identifies all the postal services which are single or even multiple philatelic entities (for instance, the Cook Islands) at the start of the year.

The list no longer includes Correios de Moรงambique which has now either been completely closed down or is in the process of being closed down on economic grounds by the government of Mozambique in the hope that a private company will step in to provide any continuing postal services that the country may still need. It seems to me to be logical that if there is no postal service then there is no need for any postage stamps. It is worth noting that the infamous Lithuania-based producer and vendor of paraphilatelic items, Stamperija, continues to produce items with the name of Mozambique printed on them.

The start of year list therefore includes 87 philatelic entities. The second list identifies the philatelic entities which have not so far issued any stamps/philatelic items during 2022 but for convenience they are identified more simply by the names of the countries and territories.
