๐ฆ๐บ Australia Post has published details of its first tranche of new issues for 2021. The organisation seems to think that Christmas Island requires a vast number of products with its name printed on them so that it can cash in in every imaginable philatelic way on the Chinese New Year celebrations. It’s sad to see that new issue stamp collecting has fallen into such a deep hole from which I doubt it can ever be salvaged. Sad also that when one thinks of the new issues coming from Australia one also thinks of the products of IGPC and Stamperija with which they have much in common.
8 January 2021 - ๐จ๐ฝ Issue inscribed Christmas Island Australia - Chinese New Year, Year of The Ox - 3 stamps, 1 miniature sheet, 1 ‘gold’ miniature sheet (cost $99) containing 3 different stamps, 1 ‘Zodiac sheet’ containing 15 different stamps costing $13.20, 1 x ‘888 Lunar new year’ gold miniature sheet containing 6 stamps costing $88, 1 prestige booklet costing $29.95, 1 ‘Calendar sheet’ containing 12 different stamps costing $15.50 plus other items.
The issue was designed by Chrissy Lau and lithographed by RA Print and perforated 14.5.Rating:- *.
25 January 2021 - ‘Memorable Moments’ - 5 gummed stamps and 4 self-adhesive stamps each from individual booklets of 10 and 1 ‘Wedding’ Prestige booklet costing $35.95c and 1 gummed miniature sheet containing 5 different stamps. Designed by Keith Downes and Sonia Young and lithographed by EGO and perforated 15 x 14. Rating:- 0.
9 February 2021 - Centenary of the Royal Australian Air Force - 2 gummed stamps, 1 miniature sheet, 2 self-adhesive stamps from coils and 1 sheetlet of 12 different My Stamps (cost $15.50c). Designed by Jamie and Leanne Tufrey and lithographed by RA Printing and perforated 14 x 14.5. Rating:- ***.
9 February 2021 - ๐ณ๐ซ Issue inscribed ‘Norfolk Island Australia’ - Lizards of Norfolk Island - 2 stamps and 1 miniature sheet containing the 2 stamps. Designed by Jason Watts and lithographed by EGO and perforated 14 x 14.5 Rating:- ****.
16 February 2021 - ‘Frontline Heroes’ - 5 se-tenant gummed stamps, 5 self-adhesive stamps from booklets of 10 and 1 miniature sheet. Further details and illustrations awaited.
๐ธ๐ฌ Singapore Post has released the designs of its Chinese new year stamps due for issue in 2021. The stamps commemorate the Year of The Ox. Further details are awaited.
