25 May 2025 - Commemoration of Mata Karma, 1016-1064, devotee of Krishna. According to India Post, Mata Karma’a life “is an exceptional example of devotion, courage and social service”. It is told that she embarked on a journey to Jagannath Puri and arriving at Puri she was asked by the temple attendants to cook khichdi, a traditional dish, which was accepted by Krishna. Designed by Ms Himani and printed by Security Printing Press, Hyderabad. Rating:- ***.

🇸🇸 Postal service of South Sudan

2024 - South Sudan sporting associations - 1 miniature sheet containing 3 different stamps. This item is currently on sale on an internet auction site. It is being offered by Aures Collections, a name which will be familiar to collectors, particularly of African new issues. This item is described as being intended for issue in 2024 (though it is dated 2023)  and as being “unissued”. It has the inscription ‘SPECIMEN 34’ at the lower right and is being offered for sale at a price of around £199. A single stamp depicting the emblem of the South Sudan Football Association is also being offered for sale for £74.71. These are not issued stamps which need to be included in any collection of South Sudan but it is interesting to see what items are offered for sale especially from this particular source.

16 January 2025 - Definitive series of 2024, new sheetlet containing 2 se-tenant blocks each of 6 x new SSP 1 00 stamps. Lithographed. This is being offered for sale on an internet auction site by Aurescollections and the stated date of issue is reported in the sale information.

🇸🇸 Postal service of South Sudan -

9 July 2024 - 13th anniversary of Independence - 6 stamps and 1 miniature sheet (as described in Blog 2527). This issue was originally intended to be released to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Independence but circumstances in the country did not allow this to be possible at the time. 

  Thanks to Leo Van der Velden, who is an excellent and highly reliable source of the new issues of Uganda and South Sudan on internet auction sites, all at an excellent price, I have added to my collection a variant of the SSP5000 value of this recently released issue. This features a chimpanzee rather than a turtle with a bar through the value and is a stamp which was not issued, the turtle design being preferred instead. 

  Leo has reported that no further new issues are expected from South Sudan during the course of 2024.

2527. 🇸🇸 South Sudan Commemorates Independence Anniversary.

9 July 2024 - 13th anniversary of Independence - 6 stamps and 1 miniature sheet containing all 6 stamps. It is reported by Leo An of the South Sudan Stamp Collectors Facebook Page that these stamps were initially intended to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Independence but with conditions prevailing in the country preventing that, the stamps have now been altered to commemorate the 13th anniversary instead. Rating:- ***.

6 July 2024 - Commemoration of Siddharoodha Swami, Hindu guru of the Savaite tradition - 1 stamp. Rating:-***.

🇧🇳 Brunei Darussalam postal service -

23 February 2024 (revised date of issue, See Blog  ). 40th anniversary of National Day - 5 stamps and 1 miniature sheet containing all 5 stamps (better illustrations of 4 of the 5 stamps and now also a poor quality illustration of the miniature sheet.

🇺🇸 Intergovernmental Philatelic Corporation (notorious USA-based producer and purveyor of philatelic products under contract from some Commonwealth and other postal services/governments). 

2024 - Usually at this stage of the year we might expect to have seen numerous products manufactured and marketed by this business but, up to now, this has not been the case. Of course the situation could change in an instant and IGPC may well flood the market with whole loads of its products with the names of several countries printed on them and with very high face values which, one assumes, is its way of dealing with dramatically falling sales figures.

2508. 🇸🇸🇧🇳 South Sudan Commemorates Gandhi; Brunei Commemorates National Day.

3 June 2024 - 75th anniversary of the death of Mohandas Gandhi, Indian politician - 2 stamps issued in sheetlets 12 with large attached label and 1 miniature sheet containing a single stamp.

  South Sudan applied to join The Commonwealth when it achieved Independence in 2011 from Sudan but has not yet been admitted to the organisation because of the endless political chaos and violence there. New issues are infrequent. These items are being offered on an internet site and further information is required to be sure of its provenance as an official issue.

8 March 2024 - 40th anniversary of National Day - 5 x 20s stamps sold as horizontal se-tenant strips from sheets of 25 and 1 miniature sheet (no illustration yet available) but probably containing a single stamp with a face value of 1BND. Rating:- ****.
