18 November 2023 - Elvis Presley (American entertainer) commemoration  - 2 miniature sheets, 1 containing 6 different stamps and the other a single stamp. Rating:- 0

10 July 2023 - Coronation of Charles III, King of Grenada - 2 miniature sheets, 1 containing 4 different stamps and the other a single stamp. Rating:- ***.

🇬🇾 Issues inscribed Guyana -

26 April 2023 - The Hyacinth macaw - 2 miniature sheets, 1 containing 6 different stamps and the other a single stamp. Rating:- 0.

🇹🇻 Issues inscribed Tuvalu -

12 June 2023 - Pacific Golden plover - 2 miniature sheets, 1 containing 6 different stamps and the other a single stamp. Rating:- 0

12 June 2023 - Ruddy turnstone - 2 miniature sheets, 1 containing 6 different stamps and the other a single stamp. Rating:- 0.

🇬🇧 Royal Mail -

5 September 2023 - 65th anniversary of the publication of the first Paddington book - 6 stamps (3 se-tenant pairs), 1 miniature sheet containing 4+different stamps and 1 ‘Collectors sheet’ containing 10 x 1st Class domestic rate stamps (5 of each design) with attached labels, sold for £12. Designed by Together Design and lithographed by Cartor and perforated 14.5. Rating:- 0. Previously reported in Blog 2356 but more information and better quality illustrations now provided. Underwhelming and pointless.

1169. 🇰🇳🇹🇻 Nevis And Tuvalu - A Trip To The Beach.

   🇨🇳🇺🇸 The Beijing- and New York-based philatelic agency, IGPC, has announced the release of a number of philatelic products with the names of client postal services printed on them:-

  🇦🇬 Antigua And Barbuda - 23 January 2018 - 75th Birthday of Muhammad Ali (American former boxer) - 2 miniature sheets, one containing 3 different stamps and the other containing a single stamp. Rating:- 0.

  🇲🇸 Montserrat - 6 December 2017 - The Coral reef - 2 miniature sheets, one containing 4 different stamps and the other containing a single stamp. Rating:- *.

  🇰🇳 Nevis - 22 December 2017 - Beaches of Nevis - 2 miniature sheets, one containing 4 different stamps and 1 containing 2 different stamps. Rating:- *.

   🇹🇻 Tuvalu - 26 December 2017 - Beaches of Tuvalu - 2 miniature sheets, one containing 4 different stamps and 1 containing 3 different stamps. Rating:- *.

  26 December 2017 - Platinum Wedding anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II (who of course is Queen of Tuvalu) and The Duke of Edinburgh- 1 miniature sheet containing 4 different stamps. Rating:- *.

  26 December 2017 - Commemoration of the late Elvis Presley, American popular singer - 1 miniature sheet containing 6 different stamps. Rating:- 0.

  24 January 2018 - Visit of US President Trump to South Korea - 1 miniature sheet containing 4 different stamps. Rating:- 0.

1039. 🇿🇦 New South Africa Issue Depicts Bees.

  🇿🇦 The South African Post Office issued a set of 3 stamps on 12 July 2017 on the subject of "Bees". The pleasant issue was designed by Jessica Delaney. Rating:- ****.

  🇯🇪 Jersey Post continues to release numerous stamp issues and news of two more is available. The problem with Jersey Post stamps is that they are generally of the highest quality of design and production and they would be a great pleasure to collect if there weren't so many of them.

  The new issues look as attractive as ever. But one must ask why Jersey Post feels it necessary to issue a "Links with China" set for the third time in as many years. Well, I guess we know why - clearly the first 2 sets in the series have sold well in China so why not issue another set to garner even more money from the Far East? It looks like being an attractive issue as well - this time on the subject of Butterflies. I would love to add it to my collection but it is excessive - nowadays more stamp issues emerge from Jersey than do from Grenada, Grenada Grenadines, Antigua And Barbuda and Tanzania.

  So, as much as I like the look of this set, I will not be buying it.

  There will also be a new set of Post and Go stamps which depict fruit. I presume that these will be issued at Autumn Stampex 2017 in London. It looks as though it should be a colourful set.

  🇰🇳 Publicity sent out by IGPC shows that there is an additional miniature sheet in the "Flowers of Nevis" issue which was mentioned in Blog 1036 with a stated date of issue of 22 June 2017:-

  🇦🇬  The publicity also illustrated a number of philatelic products to come with the name of Antigua And Barbuda printed on them - 4 stamps on the subject of "Jellyfish", a sheetlet of 4 different stamps on the subject of the "Hawksbill sea turtle", a single stamp, presumably part of a set, which depicts a Macaw, a sheetlet of 4 different stamps on the subject of "Fruits of The Caribbean", a sheetlet of 4 different stamps which depict the US music performer Elvis Presley and 4 stamps in a sheetlet which commemorate the Centenary of the French artist, Edgar Degas.

  There is also a sheetlet of 4 different stamps on the subject of the Fallow Deer which the sheet identifies as the national animal of Antigua And Barbuda. I was surprised to discover that the country's national animal was a species which was originally introduced into Britain by the Romans and then, centuries later, introduced into these Caribbean islands by the British. It's a very attractive creature and looks good on a stamp.

  The Degas issue was designed by Lauren Hendrickson and her website shows that a second sheetlet of 3 stamps will be added to the issue as shown below:-

863. Ancient Britain.

  Royal Mail's first issue of 2017 which was mentioned in Blog 860 and which has the subject of "Ancient Britain" is made up of 8 stamps (the subject of each design is given in Blog 860) and was designed by True North, lithographed by International Security Printers and perforated 14.5 x 14. 

  The illustrations used on 3 of the stamps including the Battersea shield, depicted above, are from artwork by Rebecca Strickson. See also the Blog of 26 March 2012, "Prehistoric Britain". I am looking forward to what will be an interesting set - I hope that Royal Mail keep up the good work for the rest of the year. Perhaps this could be the first in an annual series of British history stamps with Roman Britain in 2018, Anglo-Saxon England and early Scotland in 2019 and so on. One can only dream. Rating:- *****.

  Post and Go IAR kiosk M010 will begin dispensing the "Hibernating animals" stamps from 17 November 2016 at its new home in Norwich Enquiry Office.

  IAR kiosk A003 at the Fleet Air Arm Museum in Somerset will have an added inscription to commemorate  the first jet carrier landing. The inscription  "LZ551/G First Jet Carrier Landing" will be added to the Machin Head stamp while "LZ551/G 03Dec45" will appear on the Union Jack stamp. The issues will be dispensed from 3 December 2016 to 3 January 2017.

  IGPC, the New York-based philatelic agency which has called itself, "The world's most respected philatelic agency", is issuing the following  items with the names of various Commonwealth countries printed on them:- 

Ghana - 

13 September 2016 - Poisonous plants of Ghana - 1 sheetlet of 4 different stamps, 1 miniature sheet containing 2 different stamps and 1 single stamp miniature sheet. Rating:- *.

24 October 2016 - The Patas monkey - 1 sheetlet of 6 different stamps and 1 miniature sheet containing 2 different stamps. Rating:- *

10 October 2016 - US President Obama's visits to Japan - 1 sheetlet of 3 different stamps and 1 miniature sheet containing 2 different stamps. Rating:- 0.

14 October 2016 - Royal visit of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to Bhutan  - 1 sheetlet of 3 different stamps and 1 miniature sheet containing 2 different stamps. Rating:- 0.

Tuvalu - 23 September 2016 - Visit of US President Obama to Cuba - 1 sheetlet of 4 different stamps, 1 sheetlet of 6 different stamps and 1 miniature sheet containing 2 different stamps. Rating:- 0.

  The latest issue to be released by Papua New Guinea Post appeared on 25 August 2016 and features the extraordinary Pig-nosed turtle as the subject of a World Wide Fund For Nature set. The issue is made up of a sheetlet of 16 stamps - 4 blocks of 4 se-tenant different stamps and 1 miniature sheet containing 2 se-tenant horizontal strips of four. Rating:- ****.
