1219. 🇬🇧 Royal Mail Commemorates Dad's Army And Burlington House.

🇬🇧 Royal Mail will issue a set of  8 stamps on 26 June 2018 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the classic BBC television comedy series, Dad's Army. Each stamp shows a character from the long-running and much loved series with one of their catchphrases. The issue has been lithographed by International Security Printers. This issue will be immensely popular with the mail-sending public in Britain providing they're able to obtain the stamps in post offices with a degree of ease. Rating:- ****.

In Blog 1205 I detailed the issue to be released on 5 June 2018 by Royal Mail which will commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Royal Academy of Arts. I now include better quality illustrations of the 6 stamps which depict art by contemporary British artists. Rating:- ***.

  2. I refer to your posts regarding the Papua New Guinea Personalised Stamps with k1.30 and K1.35 values. Dealing first with the latter, the Bureau advises these were customer initiated and thus not available to the general public, notwithstanding that the impression gained (not just my opinion) was that they were legitimate generic issues. Of the 8 K1.30 values, 4 are also non-generic. The other 4 however show similarities to generic issues. I am compiling a catalogue of all generic issues and would appreciate high quality images of those 4.

    1. Dear Douglas, Thank you for your very interesting comment. The personalised stamps which I mentioned and illustrated in my blogs were items which I purchased from a British dealer who I do not think obtained them from the original source of the reports about the existence of these issues though I do not know the source of the stamps. I presume your comment is raising the question of the validity of some of these issues and I will be very interested in the results of your discoveries which you obviously intend to publish. As you yourself have commented I have had no reason before to suspect that these items were not available to the general public In PNG.

Very many thanks for your interesting comment.

      Best wishes, WK.
