2510. 🇬🇭 New Ghanaian Stamps To Commemorate The King Of Ashanti.

🇬🇭 Ghana Post - 

2024 - 25th anniversary of the succession of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, King of Ashanti.

  Internet and press reports as well as a Ghana Post internet site have announced the issue or perhaps forthcoming issue of a number of stamps featuring the King of Ashanti. It is difficult to be sure from the the illustrations if some of these products take the form of ordinary stamps or miniature sheets but there is certainly a ‘crypto stamp’ among these products. The announcement was made at a dinner attended by King Otumfuo Osei Tutu II on 5 May 2024 and one report noted that “Five stamps were unveiled …including the definitive stamp, the Crypto stamp, the VIP stamp, the royal stamp frame and ad Post Cards …”.

  Another report stated that, “The stamps come in the form of a standard stamp, a commemorative stamp, crypto stamp, stamp album, framed gold stamp and post cards”. The Managing Director of Ghana Post stated, “We unveiled twelve stamps, of which eight are of a kind. We also unveiled crypto stamps, postal stamps, Otumfuo souvenirs and others”.

The Ghana Post internet site features the following products (readers will draw their own conclusions of the nature of each of the items at this stage where most are “pre-order”). Rating:- some of them might be worth a punt. Prices as stated on Ghana Post internet site -

🇮🇳 India Post -

2024 - 35th anniversary of the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority, My Stamp - 1 personalised stamp issued in sheetlets of 12 with attached labels and sold at a premium.

🇴🇲 Oman Post -

2 June 2024 - Endowment’s Year 1444 AH - 1 stamp from sheetlets 8and 1 miniature versions containing a single stamp. Rating:- **.

2508. 🇸🇸🇧🇳 South Sudan Commemorates Gandhi; Brunei Commemorates National Day.

 

New issues -

🇸🇸 Postal service of South Sudan -

3 June 2024 - 75th anniversary of the death of Mohandas Gandhi, Indian politician - 2 stamps issued in sheetlets 12 with large attached label and 1 miniature sheet containing a single stamp.

  South Sudan applied to join The Commonwealth when it achieved Independence in 2011 from Sudan but has not yet been admitted to the organisation because of the endless political chaos and violence there. New issues are infrequent. These items are being offered on an internet site and further information is required to be sure of its provenance as an official issue.

🇧🇳 Postal service of Brunei Darussalam -

8 March 2024 - 40th anniversary of National Day - 5 x 20s stamps sold as horizontal se-tenant strips from sheets of 25 and 1 miniature sheet (no illustration yet available) but probably containing a single stamp with a face value of 1BND. Rating:- ****.

2507. 🇲🇺 World’s Most Famous Extinct Bird Once More Featured On Mauritius Stamp.

1 June 2024 - Definitive series, Extinct species of birds (III). Lithographed by Cartor. Rating:- *****. Featured birds - Rs2 - the Mauritius grey parrot, Lophopsittacus bensoni, Rs10 - the Rodrigues parrot, Necropsittacus rodricanus,  Rs30 - the Dodo, Raphus cuculatus.

🇬🇬 Guernsey Post -

25 July 2024 - ‘Guernsey by day and night’ - 5 x local GY postal rate and 5 x UK rate issued as a pane of 10 different stamps (1 of each stamp) and in 4 different booklets. Designed from photographs by Chris George and Ben Fiore and lithographed by bpost. There are 4/booklets - 10 x GY, 10 x UK, 50 x GY and 50 x UK. The cost of the various items is shown in the illustration below though I assume the cost of the 50 x GY booklet is incorrect and should be £32.50p..
