I'm giving the The Vikings in Britain a 5 star rating too! Very nice issue.
ReplyDeleteBut what are the 1.00 and 2.00 stamps for? Are those some kind of rates too?
£2 is international economy letter outwith Europe rate, so has a sort of utility. I don't know about £1.. As someone who uses these stamps I find these irregular values quite frustrating.
DeleteRoyal Mail introduced these values so that users could put them on parcels and overseas letters. A pair of £1 and a 20p serves up to 100g anywhere in the world.
DeleteIan, I think that is why they include those 2.20 stamps... ;)
DeleteFinally a Royal Mail issue that is relevant and that I would like to collect. Well designed, informative and celebrating the U.K.’s history. Let’s have more of this and less of the superhero nonsense. Well deserving of the 5 stars.
ReplyDeleteWK responding - It’s wonderful to see the enthusiasm with which this issue is being greeted by real stamp collectors.
ReplyDeleteIf only Royal Mail would take the hint and drop the populist pap.
DeleteWK replying -Sadly, I suppose, if people buy the populist issues and RM makes a good profit on them (you don’t have to sell many limited edition prestige booklets or fan sheets before money is made on them) then they will keep on issuing them.
