 2 March 2026 - International Women’s Month, Female national heroes of Cayman Islands (as shown in Blog 2884) - in addition to the 4 stamps from sheets, smaller self-adhesive versions of each stamp exist all taken from booklets. These items are shown & offered for sale on the Spectre-of-Stamps internet site on e bay from which the illustrations are obtained. Thanks to Stewie 1980 for drawing my attention to these items. 21 April 2026 - Birth centenary of Queen Elizabeth II - 8 stamps (4  vertically se-tenant pairs) and 1 miniature sheet containing 4 more different stamps. Presumably there will be other items. Further details awaited. Rating:- *****.

This issue was shown prematurely on the Royal Mail and Collectables E Bay page and reported by Fairy Foot on Stamp boards. The miniature sheet is charming depicting as it does, portraits of the Queen with her beloved pet corgis and horses. Better quality illustrations will be shown here when available.

2795. 🇨🇶 Correct Spelling Of Soldiers On Sark Occupation Stamp.

🇨🇶 Issues inscribed Sark -

27 August 2025 - 80th anniversary of the liberation of Sark from Nazi German occupation & the Royal Visit of The Princess Anne and Admiral Timothy Lawrence - 8 stamps and 1 limited edition miniature sheet. Publicity put out by Guernsey Post for this issue included an illustration of the 69p value with the incorrect spelling of ‘Soldiers’ as ‘Soliders’. There was a delay to Guernsey Post despatching this issue because, it was reported, Buckingham Palace’s approval of the issue was delayed. We may speculate that this delay was attributable to the Palace officials discovering the spelling error.

  I have now received the set of stamps and miniature sheet I ordered from Guernsey stamps and both ordinary stamp from sheets and that contained in the miniature sheet have the correct spelling of Soldiers. And that would seem to be the end of that.

Therefore, at the end of August, 44 out of 88 (50.0%) (one new entity has been added in the form of Bailiwick of Guernsey Sark) of Commonwealth philatelic entities appear to have not issued, or not had issued on their behalf, any legitimate postage stamps during 2025. This compares with 54% at the end of July and 41.6% at the end of August 2024.
