๐ฌ๐ง Royal Mail -

These products were desIgned by Supple Studio’ and lithographed by Cartor and perforated 14.5 x 14. Rating:- 0.
๐ฌ๐ฌ Guernsey Post -
25 January 2024 - Chinese new year, Year of the Dragon - 6 stamps, 1 miniature sheet containing all 6 stamps (see Blogs 2412 and 2419) and 1 gold miniature sheet (“souvenir sheet gold replica”) sold for £95 in a perspex box & in a limited edition of 100. Rating:- 0.
I often wonder if the perspex boxes in which such items are usually sold are in real terms more valuable than the sheets themselves.
Issue inscribed ‘Alderney’ -
14 February 2024 - Postboxes of Alderney - 6 stamps and 1 miniature sheet containing a single stamp. Designed by Nicky Shales and lithographed. Illustrations awaited.
I used to envy the Keeper of the Royal Philatelic Collection, but now I suspect that no salary would be sufficient to tempt me to take on the task of adding, cataloguing, etc., the dross issued by Royal Mail.
ReplyDelete(Maybe others are of the same view, and that explains why the role has remained unfilled since 2019?)
WK replying - Who could argue with your comments? There is much repetitive rubbish in the 2024 RM programme. But profit is easily made when little strips of sticky paper are sold for more than £12, especially as they are unlikely to be used to pay for the carriage & delivery (sometimes & then not timely) of mail. Under the present show biz-style management I see little prospect of any change in the foreseeable future.
DeleteI think that few emissions here will interest me this year. The Spice Girls emission was actually pretty. Not that I was a fan, but I know how to appreciate a beautiful broadcast. Anyway, they didn't include American "comics" but they did include two "Music Giants".
ReplyDeleteDungeons and Dragons will at least serve my theme of "Myths and legends", as the dragon is a legendary animal. The Vikings in Britain, The Tower of London and spiders can be interesting, it will depend on the treatment given to the themes.
