🇬🇬 Several new issues have been announced for issue on 2 May 2020 by Guernsey Post.

Endangered species, The Kordofan giraffe - 1 miniature sheet containing a single stamp. Designed by Joel Kirk and lithographed by bpost. Rating:- 0.


75th anniversary of Liberation Day (liberation of the islands from Nazi occupation) - 6 stamps. Designed by Two Degrees North and lithographed by bpost. Rating:- ****.







  250th Birth anniversary of Ludwig van Beethoven, German music composer (second issue) - 1 stamp. Designed by The Potting Shed and lithographed by Southern Colour Print. Rating:- 0.


🇳🇿 New Zealand Post will issue 4 miniature sheets one of each day from 19 to 22 March 2020 to commemorate the NZ2020 FIAP International Stamp Exhibition to be held in Auckland during that period. The issue was designed by Alan Hollows and lithographed by Southern Colour Print and perforated 14.5 x 14 (Maritime sheet), 13.5 (Lunar new year sheet), 15 (Kupe sheet) and 15 (Lighthouse sheet). Rating:- ***.





🇨🇾 Cyprus Post issued its latest Refugee tax stamp on 12 February 2020 along with 2 commemorative sets previously detailed in Blog 1600. Rating:- ****.

  1. Intrigued that one of the Guernsey stamps seems to show US troops throwing sweets from a Jeep. Pretty sure that the liberation of the Channel Islands was primarily carried out by British troops (including as many Jersey or Guernsey natives as could be found). Another case of poor research?

  2. According to Wikipedia, there were no American troops involved, though the Commonwealth forces were using jeeps. A question whether the uniforms are correct for ...
