New issues.
🇬🇧 Royal Mail.
12 January 2023 - Iron Maiden (veteran popular music group) - 8 stamps as 2 se-tenant strips of 4 (4 x 1st Class and 4 x £1.85) and 1 miniature sheet containing 4 different stamps (album cover designs). Rating:- 0. It is outrageous that the late Queen’s cameo portrait appears beside these images. How on earth did Royal Mail manage to get royal approval for this trash?
Commonwealth entities whose postal services are not known to have issued, or had issued on their behalf, any legitimate postage stamps during 2022 -
Anguilla
Belize
British Indian Ocean Territory
British Virgin Islands
Cameroon
Cook Islands Rarotonga
Dominica
eSwatini
Gabon
Lesotho
Montserrat
Niue
Rwanda
St Kitts
Saint Lucia
Solomon Islands
Tokelau
Uganda
Vanuatu
It therefore appears that 19 Commonwealth philatelic entities did not issue, or did not have issued on their behalf, any legitimate postage stamps. This is the same as last year. Therefore 21.3% of Commonwealth entities are not known to have issued any new stamps during 2022 as was the case in 2021.
If I ruled the world....
ReplyDelete... I would insist on going back to the days when in order to qualify to appear on Royal Mail stamps, you had to be royal ... or dead! (How much of recent years' trash would we have been saved if "identifiable living persons" were not permitted?)
And how great the indignity if the Iron Maiden issue turns out to be the last to feature Her Late Majesty's cameo.... (How far in advance are these printed?) ... although the next, X-Men, issue would likely be just as poor an endnote to glorious reign.
Reply from WK - I agree with your entire comment. If this is the last issue to show The Queen’s cameo then it is indeed a shameful way to end the remarkable Elizabethan philatelic era.
DeleteDo grow up,
Deletemaiden are one of the countries most long enduring rock/metal bands, with a large and loyal following. I like Eddie the Ed being next to the queen's head 😊
Fabulous, Eddie the Ed, next to the queen's head
DeleteBrilliant stuff...bring on the Slayer or Cannibal Corpse collection for 2024.
DeleteIRON MAIDEN are a British rock band that have been going for well over 40 years and there music is loved world wide , I bet you have never heard any of their music .
ReplyDeleteShameful? One of the most revered, respected and successful musical acts that the country has ever produced? You need to get a life!
ReplyDeletePhilatelic trolling! What fun!
DeleteThe list with entities with no stamps is getting longer every year...
ReplyDeleteIn total I mean, not only Commonwealth.
DeleteHow can I buy those in america?
ReplyDeleteBy accessing the Royal Mail stamps internet site. They should be shown there in the near future to order prerelease.
DeleteA new low for the Royal Mail. It seems that hoping the fans will buy these rather than the general public or the collector show how desperate things are getting. I like a bit of heavy metal music but I don't regard it worthy of putting on stamps. I won't be collecting new GB stamps after the new KCIII definitives
