🇳🇿 New Zealand Post -

1 June 2022 -  ‘Welcome Back’ to tourists - 1 large miniature sheet containing 6 different stamps. The aim of this sheetlet is to ‘welcome back’ foreign tourists to the country after the borders have been closed for 2 years due to the NZ government’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic which has resulted in the total destruction of the nation’s international tourism industry. The designs are bizarre - showing incomprehensible symbols on menacing black backgrounds rather than features which would draw back tourists such as some of its attractive scenery or wildlife. In addition there is nothing welcoming about the subjects of the stamps which are more of a series of commands to potential visitors - “ Keep NZ Clean”, “Drive Carefully”, “Show respect” and so on rather than kind, welcoming messages. If I were thinking of visiting the country, seeing this item would certainly put me off. Rating:- 0.

🇬🇧 Royal Mail - 

3 June 2022 (until 1 July 2022). Platinum jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, Post and Go stamps (dispensed from kiosk A001 located in the Postal Museum, London) - 6 different previously issued 50th anniversary of the Machin Head stamps with additional inscription ‘The Postal Museum/The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee’. Post and Go stamps dispensed at other sites will also be released with an additional Platinum Jubilee inscription. These sites include the several military museums mentioned in Blog 2083 as well as the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust shop in Stratford upon Avon and STEAM, the museum of the Great Western Railway in Swindon.

22 June 2022 - ‘Seagull mischief’ - 4 stamps. 1 value - the £1.10 - is Guernsey Post’s  contribution to the 2022 SEPAC omnibus issue by obliquely referencing the 2022 theme (local drinks) by depicting a seagull sipping from a discarded drink can. Amusing designs by James Colmer and lithographed by Bpost. A wholly unnecessary issue. Rating:- *.
