Stamp designers.

Those who follow Ian Billings’ indispensable blog on British stamps, Norvic Philatelic Blog, will have noticed that he has just posted a tribute to the superb ornithological artist and stamp designer Robert Gillmor who has died recently at the age of 85. The Norvic Blog recalls his delightful designs for the Royal Mail series of Post and Go stamps featuring British garden birds, water birds and sea birds which were issued in 2010. Long before that, in 1972, he designed one of my favourite modern stamp issues - 6 stamps and 1 miniature sheet from Seychelles depicting rare, some very rare, birds of the territory. I depict them here as a reminder of Gillmor’s contribution to stamp design and to regret that the Seychelles Post Office has for some years more or less given up issuing new postage stamps considering what exciting and interesting subjects it has, as a country, which could be featured. I think these are beautiful stamps:-
