Four new Christmas stamps will be issued by Tristan Da Cunha on 18 November 2013 which depict local Catholic and Anglican churches, along with Catholic and Anglican cathedrals in Britain, and cleverly commemorate the inaugurations this year of the new Pope, Francis, and new Archbishop Of Canterbury, Justin Welby, by depicting the 2 church leaders on labels which link 2 different stamps. The stamps were designed by Bee Design and printed in lithography by Cartor.
The new Pope also appears on a sheetlet of 4 stamps and 1 miniature sheet which were issued on 2 September 2013 by Dominica. Since by far the most important religion on the island is Roman Catholicism this issue does not seem unreasonable:-
Among the rash of other issues just released by Dominica (see Blog 303) is a sheetlet of 6 stamps and 1 miniature sheet which depict marine life and a parrot (also issued 2 September 2013). The designs are rather naive and give the impression of having been produced by a local artist and if so, I think that this would be an issue I would add to my Dominica collection:-
Meanwhile I also illustrate the second miniature sheet from the latest set of dog stamps which was issued on 2 September 2013 by Dominica:-
And to balance it, a sheetlet of 4 stamps and 1 miniature sheet which feature "Cute kittens" which has recently been issued by Montserrat although I do not know the exact date of issue yet:-
Also from Montserrat, yet another sheetlet of 4 stamps and 1 m.s. which depict "Blossoming plants". Whether these are plants which are actually found on Montserrat is not made clear and so I shall not bother to add these items to my collection at present:-
Finally, from Nevis, I illustrate the sheetlet of 4 stamps which was released on 10 September 2013 to commemorate the birth of Prince George of Cambridge. There was also an accompanying miniature sheet:-
