On 14 September 2015 Canada Post issued the second part of its "Haunted Canada" series which is proving to be great fun. This part consists of 5 self-adhesive stamps produced in booklets of 10 (2 of each stamp) and 1 gummed miniature sheet which contains one of each value. Five postcards, each one depicting a different design, have also been released. The issue was designed by Lionel Gadoury and Kammy Ahuja of Context Creative, the illustrations being by Sam Weber. The issue was lithographed by Canadian Bank Note. Rating:- *****.
On 28 September 2015 Canada Post will then issue a single self-adhesive stamp, lithographed in booklets of 10 by Canadian Bank Note, on the subject of the Canada Post Community Foundation, which has a 10c surcharge which is donated to the Community Foundation which helps Canadian children and youth. The stamp was designed by Context Creative from an illustration by Marie-Eve Tremblay. rating:-***.
Royal Gibraltar Post Office is in the process of presenting us with 30 new "Post And Go" stamps and labels with the establishment of 2 kiosks actually situated in Gibraltar itself as detailed in Blog 624. With the site of each kiosk identified on the stamps and each kiosk producing 12 values as illustrated below 24 new "Post And Go" stamps are thereby produced. Rating:- ***.
Parcel Office kiosk GI03:-
Main Post Office kiosk GI02:-
But another 6 labels will be dispensed from kiosk GI01 at Autumn Stampex 2015 from 16 to 19 September. Unlike the Gibraltar-sited kiosk stamps, these are produced for 4 days only at a site in a foreign country where the labels are not valid for postage and, as usual, I see these as exhibition souvenirs rather than postage stamps and so do not feel any need to obtain them for my collection. They are of interest however because they have the additional inscription "HM The Queen Longest Reign " and anyone putting together a collection of "Longest Reign" stamps may feel the need to obtain them. Rating:- 0.
In Blog 636 I mentioned the exciting Royal Mail "Star Wars" stamps due for release on 20 October 2015. To these must be added a "Generic" Smilers sheet titled "Star Wars Heroes and Villains" which contains 10 stamps (4 different designs) with attached labels and a £16.99p (ouch!) "Prestige booklet" to be released on 17 December 2015 titled "The Making of Star Wars The British Story" - just in time to be a last minute stocking filler buy for Christmas. Clever - everything surrounding this Star Wars issue seems to be very clever.
One pane of the booklet will contain Machin definitives (orange not purple 1st class). The pre-publicity also says that regarding the booklet, "its many stamps also include a set that is unique to this book" - intriguing. Rating:- *****.
Pos Malaysia will issue 4 stamps and 1 miniature sheet on 15 September 2015 to commemorate National Day.
