28 March 2026 - Joint first day covers of previously issued Joint issue stamps - Singapore/Maldives and Singapore/Thailand (stamps issued in 2025). I have not yet seen the Maldives issue being offered for sale so this is an opportunity to obtain them. Rating:- ****.
🇦🇪 Emirates Post (postal service of the United Arab Emirates) -
22 January 2026 - The Sharjah Old Cars Club and Museum, rare vintage cars -1 miniature sheet containing 6 different stamps. Lithographed. Rating:- ****.
I didn't have very high hopes for the latest Royal Mail exercise in exploitation, but the Lord of the Rings stamps fail even to scale the meagre height that I had anticipated, continuing to take advantage of the (dwindling number of) completist collectors who are like fish in a barrel, the same barrel whose bottom Royal Mail continues to scrapes away with each new 'entertainment' issue.
ReplyDeleteIt may be a popular issue, but a large measure of that may only be because by the date of release we will know this year's inflation-busting tariff increase and people will want to lock in the pre-increase price as they stockpile 1st class stamps. (And for that purpose, to my eye, the standard definitives - bearing the King's head - are a more attractive option.)
