  1. If you ignore the Post and Go issues, Guernsey will issue 14 sets (including Alderney's issues). However, what I find more interesting is why the 50th Anniversary of Postal Independence is split into postal and philatelic issues - is this indicating 50 years of the Post Office, and another issue for 50 years of stamps? Or will there be stamps released solely for collectors, such as a reprint of the first £1 stamp as they did a while back?

    1. Thank you. 'Guernsey' does not issue stamps. The organisation called 'Guernsey Post' issues stamps. Therefore all 14 non-Post and Go issues are issued by a single organisation. The island of Alderney does not issue any stamps and any profit from the sale of stamps inscribed 'Alderney' goes to Guernsey Post. By releasing stamps with the names of 2 different islands inscribed on them Guernsey Post is able to increase the number of issues it releases while making it seem as though 'Guernsey' is not issuing very many stamps in a given year.
Post and Go stamps are 'stamps' and whether stamps are sold over a counter or from a machine they are still stamps. Therefore we may justifiably conclude that Guernsey Post is planning to release 20 issues during 2019 which is plainly excessive for a small postal administration,
Guernsey Post has not, so far as I know, explained its 50th anniversary issues yet but no doubt all will become clear in time.
      Best wishes, WK.
