716. New Barbados Definitives Depict Nation Builders; Historic Hotels Featured On New Zimbabwe Issue.


  The Barbados Postal Service issued an excellent new definitive series on 18 January 2016 on the subject of "Builders of Barbados". The issue consists of 14 pieces of original artwork which depict important historical personalities who played a role in the development of Barbados. Rating:- *****.














  Zimpost, the post office of Zimbabwe, issued a set of 4 stamps on 28 November 2015 on the subject of Historic hotels of Zimbabwe. This is an interesting and nicely illustrated set. Rating:- *****.





  India Post issued its 7th "My Stamp" issue on 15 February on the subjects of Ellori Caves, Ghats of Varanasi (day and night) and the Victoria Memorial. Three different sheets each of 12 stamps make up the set (1 sheetlet of 12 x Ellori Caves, 1 sheetlet of 12 Victoria Memorial and 1 sheetlet of 6 x Ghats of Varanasi by day and 6 x Ghats of Varanasi by day).








    I depict below the various "Collectors strips" of "Post and Go" stamps which were launched at the "Spring Stampex 2016" philatelic exhibition in London but actually dispensed locally at the various post offices in Guernsey (IAR kiosk GG02, Envoy House - 1 strip of 6), Gibraltar (IAR kiosks GO02 and GI03, Main Post Office and Parcel Office - 2 strips of 4 both post offices) and Jersey (IAR kiosk JE02, Broad Street post office). All strips have the additional inscriptions which locate the site where they were dispensed:-









  This week's products from Stamperija include items with the name of 1 Commonwealth country inscribed on them - Sierra Leone. With a stated "date of issue" of 27 November 2015, the products take the form of 10 "sheetlets" each of 4 different "stamps" with 10 accompanying "miniature sheet". 
  The featured subjects are:- 50th anniversary of the 1st stadium concert of The Beatles (British formula popular muic group), the late Alfred Hitchcock (British film director), 45th anniversary of Apollo 13 (US space mission), Lunar new year (Year of the Monkey), Pastoral visits of Pope Francis, Christmas paintings, the Pilgrimage to Mecca (obviously Stamperija is trying to keep its options open when it comes to religion), First World War aircraft, the Sierra Leone Red Cross Society and Nobel Prize winners of 2015. Rating:- 0.
