384. Yet More Downton Abbey Stamps In Caribbean New Issue Frenzy.

Having complained bitterly about new philatelic products from Tuvalu in Blog 383 because their subject matter had no relevance to the small islands whose name was printed on them, a huge deluge of philatelic items is being released by a single New York-based philatelic agent on behalf of several of its Caribbean client territories and again the subject matter has no direct relevance to those territories. A couple of the territories are having philatelic items produced on their behalf as part of the agency's Downton Abbey omnibus although, just as in the case of Tuvalu, the subject matter can have no relevance to those countries. I shall not bother to add any of the following long list of items to my Commonwealth collection and will record them as footnotes only. I do not yet know the dates of issue or other details about them:-

Guyana - "Downton Abbey" (British television programme) - 1 sheetlet of 4 different stamps and 1 miniature sheet:-

  - 26 February 2014 - The first year of the Pontificate of Pope Francis - 2 sheetlets each of 4 different stamps and 2 m.s.:-

  - 26 February 2014 - Centenary of the beginning of World War I - 2 sheetlets each of 4 different stamps and 2 m.s. (designs do not depict any subject which links British Guiana/Guyana to the war):-

  Nevis - 5 March 2014 - "Downton Abbey" - 1 sheetlet of 4 different stamps and 1 m.s.:-

  - 5 March 2014 - "Winter Games" (presumably linked to the Sochi Winter Olympic Games but inscription lacking the word "Olympic" or using the Games logo so presumably not issued with official Olympic approval on the grounds that St. Kitts Nevis was not a participating country in the Winter Olympic Games) - 2 sheetlets, one of 6 different stamps and 1 of 4 different stamps:-

  1. These Caribbean Islands just issue so much wallpaper don't they and the designs are just so flat. I am not parting with my money anytime soon.

    1. Thanks for your input. I agree with everything you say and, like you, my money's staying in my pocket as regards these "issues". And yet somebody must be buying the stuff or else the agency wouldn't produce it. Interesting, isn't it?
