285. Royal Baby Issues Flood On To The Stamp Market.

  A large New York-based philatelic agency has announced details of a flood of new issues which it has produced on behalf of its client territories to commemorate the birth of Prince George of Cambridge. Sets have been produced with the names of various territories on them, including a British Overseas Territory, several Commonwealth realms where the baby prince finds himself to be a heir to those country's thrones, various Commonwealth republics who long ago gave up being ruled by the British royal family but who still recognise the baby's great grandmother as Head of The Commonwealth and one or two other territories which have never had, nor currently have, a link to the British royal family. The issues produced in the name of the various Commonwealth territories are listed here. No dates of issue have so far been announced.
 Antigua And Barbuda (Commonwealth Realm): sheetlet of 4 different stamps and 1 miniature sheet.
 Commonwealth Of Dominica (Republic): sheetlet of 4 different stamps and 1 m.s.:-

  The Gambia (Republic): Sheetlet of 4 different stamps and 1 m.s.;
  Ghana (Republic): Sheetlet of 4 different stamps and 1 m.s.:-

  Grenada (Commonwealth Realm): Sheetlet of 4 different stamps and 1 m.s.:-

  Guyana (Republic): Sheetlet of 4 different stamps and 1 m.s.;
  Nevis (part of a Commonwealth Realm): Sheetlet of 4 different stamps and 1 m.s.;
  Papua New Guinea (Commonwealth Realm): 4 stamps, a sheetlet of 4 different stamps and a miniature sheet containing a single stamp:-

  St. Kitts (part of a Commonwealth Realm): Sheetlet of 4 different stamps and 1 m.s.;
  St. Vincent And The Grenadines (Commonwealth Realm): Sheetlet of 3 different stamps and 1 m.s.;
  Sierra Leone (Republic): Sheetlet of 5 different stamps;
  Tanzania (Republic): Sheetlet of 4 different stamps and 1 m.s.:-

  Turks And Caicos Islands (British Overseas Territory): Sheetlet of 3 different stamps and 1 m.s.;
  Uganda (Republic): Sheetlet of 4 different stamps and 1 m.s.:-

  Zambia (Republic): Sheetlet of 4 different stamps and 1 m.s.

  It seems perfectly reasonable for British territories and Commonwealth realms to issue stamps to commemorate the birth of their future king but I can not see the justification for issues by The Commonwealth republics which, after all, were quite happy to give up having Queen Elizabeth and her successors as their heads of state but are quite relaxed about letting their foreign philatelic agent cash in on the royal birth in their names.
