21 April 2026 - Birth centenary of the late Queen Elizabeth II - 8 stamps (4 vertically se-tenant pairs) (cost £14.40), 1 miniature sheet containing 4 different stamps (£7.20), 1 ‘Collectors sheet’ containing all 8 stamps lithographed in self-adhesive format with attached labels (£15:60) and 1 Prestige booklet containing 4 panes including one containing King Charles III definitives - 2 x 50p and 2 x £1 (cost £26.25). Designed by Baxter & Bailey and lithographed by Cartor and perforated 14. Total cost - £63.45.
The basic set depicts a photograph from each of decades of the late queen’s life excluding the1920s when she was a small child and the 1990s, the decade which included 1997 which she memorably called her annus horribilis.

I had more than slight trepidation in anticipation of this issue - but it is a tour de force.
ReplyDeleteUn tour de force? Vraiment? There are no 2nd class to use on post, there are no £3:60s for foreign post, these are too broad to fit two of them on postcards and we have seen all the images; many of which date from before before I was born; and even the Isle of Man ones are æsthetically better.
