2493. πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡¨ Surprise Coronation Stamp From Seychelles.

New issues -

πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡¨ Seychelles postal service -

29 February 2024 - Coronation of King Charles III, Head of The Commonwealth - 1 stamp. Lithographed. Further details awaited. Rating:- *****.

This is a somewhat surprising issue given that Seychelles has not issued any royalty-themed new stamps for a long time. It is of course a Republic and what is most surprising about the design is that features not only the coat of arms of Seychelles but also the royal cypher which we might expect to be featured on the stamps of territories ruled by the King to signify his approval of the stamp but not on a stamp issued by a republic. Very interesting and also  one of the best King Charles III coronation stamps to have been released.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡¬ Guernsey Post -

25 July 2024 - 50th anniversary of Bagpuss (children’s television programme) - details awaited. Guernsey Post has tweeted a picture of one of the expected stamps to tempt those who prefer Bagpuss to Peppa Pig (see Blog 2492).The tweet informs us that the issue will include a miniature sheet but the Guernsey Stamps internet site section ‘Stamp Programmes’ mentions that there will be just 4 stamps and the issue will be inscribed Alderney. We shall just have to wait and see.

πŸ‡πŸ‡° Hong Kong Post

Rating:- ****.
