My only wish is that there were fewer issues.
Like you I think the ‘Roman Britain’ issue is very exciting. I hope it’s a continuation of stamps telling the history of Britain following on from the Prehistoric Britain set of a couple of years ago. Hopefully in the future perhaps Royal Mail will give us stamps dealing with the Dark Ages, Anglo-Saxon subjects and the Vikings in Britain. As you found when you were young, stamps can be a wonderful hook for young people into learning more about history and other subjects. This is what happened to me, my childhood stamp collection opened up the world to me - strangely-named and distant countries and islands, kings and queens, wildlife, colourful flags, dramatic events, travel around the world and into space, an endless list to whet the educational appetite of a young person. But the stamps need to be affordable. Let’s hope Royal Mail realise that.White Knighthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17968199477827266643noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2005756131065514338.post-47381855227153718252020-01-07T08:51:29.816+00:002020-01-07T08:51:29.816+00:00A few interesting issues here and I agree, Star Tr...A few interesting issues here and I agree, Star Trek does seem to be, as is fitting of the show, ‘illogical’,

Nice to see Roman Britain! The Roman Britain issue from 1993 was what got me started in philately. I saw it advertised in the newspaper (loved anything Roman) and went with my pocket money to the street corner post office (now sadly gone), happily asked for the stamps, only really interested in history and anything Roman, and the kind owner (family friend) took time to show me year books, other presentation packs, the Sherlock issue, the canals issue etc and that was it, I was hooked.
