I look forward to reading the comments on your site to find out how the devoted collectors who follow your Blog feel about this issue. I just feel that there are so many British cultural successes to celebrate philatelically that this issue is indefensible though I appreciate it's all about making money by Royal Mail and nothing to do with national pride at a time when we could do with some.White Knighthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17968199477827266643noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2005756131065514338.post-89226091098129154082019-02-18T17:26:30.619+00:002019-02-18T17:26:30.619+00:00Some of the detail that Keijo has found are includ...Some of the detail that Keijo has found are included in the PSB.

Amazingly the public launch of this is tomorrow, so I have added many of the images to my blog, but hidden by the HTML as I am not allowed to show them yet - although it was 1 a.m. in Tokyo when I started so I could have....

Well done for grabbing these pictures as soon as you found them.Ian - Norvichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16436130277706268046noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2005756131065514338.post-35959192691824200582019-02-18T16:50:16.295+00:002019-02-18T16:50:16.295+00:00Thanks Keijo. I understand that British writers, artists and so on have been involved but if Royal Mail commemorated every foreign company which have British people work for them, well, where would it all end?
I try to go along with the new issues of various countries and understand their excuses for issuing them but I can not convince myself to do so this time and I shall be glad not to spend a large amount of money on this issue which, to be honest, is actually a celebration of a foreign culture. It really is no different to me than all those Micky Mouse stamps that flooded out of the Caribbean and West Africa and so on back in the 1980s and 90s.White Knighthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17968199477827266643noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2005756131065514338.post-4911254261340651972019-02-18T16:03:42.941+00:002019-02-18T16:03:42.941+00:00Now, now...Isn't - -***** rating bit harsh, LO...Now, now...Isn't - -***** rating bit harsh, LOL.

Not sure if you know, but Marvel had a "UK line" back in the (not so distant) history. Here's a short Wikipedia article of it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marvel_UK

It was mostly reproduction of 'Best of Marvel' at first, but later they did produce original and highly readable stories & characters of their own. Some of it, such as Death's Head & Captain Britain came quite popular characters globally. Needless to say lots of British talents (writers, inkers, artists) behind the success of Marvel as well. So I think this is just fair 'tribute' to one of world's greatest comics companies (of course stamps like these would not have happened without success of Marvel movies and good licensing deal, LOL).

-k-keijohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16819727048104683485noreply@blogger.com
